As part of fight against and prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, a sensitization workshop was organized in dates from 4 to 5 September 2019 by Service Yezu Mwiza in collaboration with Care International, for leaders community of Gihanga commune in Bubanza province.
The aim of the workshop was to help community leaders to better understand the different kinds of sexual and gender-based violence, their harmful effects so that they become aware of the consequences caused by the violence but also their contribution to raising awareness and leading to behaviour change among community members.

Through group work and simulation games (new planet and power imbalance) to immerse themselves in the subject, participants understood that their contribution to collective change through raising awareness among other parents in the community on fight and prevention of Gender-Based Sexual Violence is essential and promised to get actively involved so that the community is responsible in fighting against all kinds of violence.
Note that during that workshop, SASA was used as a learning module. It is an approach that explores the notion of power imbalance between men and women that is the origin of SGBV. It also helps to raise awareness about the prevention of gender-based violence and HIV / AIDS.
