Muramvya: Training of the animators of fundamental schools(ECOFO) in SRHR project

The Burundian government considers controlling population growth and improving sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as national priorities. It is within this framework that Service Yezu Mwiza, in collaboration with GIZ / Santé, organized a training program for network school animators from 13 to 16 August 2019, in the implementation of the project. SRHR.

In this training, a trainer of the Sanitary District Office, a trainer of the Provincial Health Office, the animators of the Rweza and Muramvya networks were invited.
The purpose of the training was to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to the school leaders so that they in turn can return to schools what they have learned.

After the welcome and introduction of activities by the GIZ representative, trainer of the Sanitary District Office explained the key concepts in Reproductive Health (RH) and its pillars.
On his part, trainer of the Provincial Health Office emphasized that it is necessary to develop a positive vision of the facilitators / educators facing young people; be aware of issues that may have a negative impact on educators who do not dare to talk about RH with their students.
Training of animators in Muramvya
In this training, various topics were discussed including the biological and socio-psychological changes of the human body; the causes, consequences and means of preventing early pregnancy in schools; reproduction and misdemeanor demographic in Burundi and its impact on health, education and the economy.
"I am delighted to have benefited from this training which was very rewarding. With the knowledge acquired, I will be able to contribute to the improvement of sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially in schools ".said one of the animators after the training.
