The impact of the therapeutic education of health mediators to PLHIV

Posted on 19/06/2019 - Category: Clinique Mobile ...

People living with HIV can live long and healthy lives through therapeutic education about proper medication and adherence to treatment.

SYM through its mobile clinic strategy of bringing care services closer to the poorest beneficiaries living in Bujumbura province, also contributes to WHO's vision of zero new cases of HIV infection, zero HIV-related deaths, zero cases of discrimination in an area where pvvihs can live long and healthy.

Through the therapeutic education of health mediators on adherence to treatment, and the importance of correct drug intake, for a period of only 5 months, from January to the end of May 2019; out of a total of 279 samples for viral load on PLWHA under the Yezu Mwiza Service, 235 (84%) their viral load is undetectable.

Now a strong momentum stands out in favor of the 90-90-90 strategy :

    (a) To ensure that 90% of people living with HIV know their HIV status;
    (b) To ensure that 90 per cent of those diagnosed with HIV receive antiretroviral therapy;
    (c) To ensure that 90% of people living with HIV and on antiretroviral therapy have their viral load disappear.
