In the implementation of the "RAFG Activity = Reaching an AIDS-Free Generation" project, the Yezu Mwiza Service organizes monthly meetings with community relays in the province of Bujumbura around the health facilities of: RUKARAMU, BUTERERE, GATUMBA, MARAMVYA, RUBIRIZI, RUSHUBI, MUTUMBA and KABEZI with the aim of retraining them on the best strategies in the elimination of HIV.
The project "RAFG Activity" is a project that supports in the management of HIV but embraces the community component much more.
The purpose of this monthly meeting is to follow up in order to improve the technical and organizational capacity of Community Relays for a better performance.
Facilitators place a strong emphasis on indexed screening with emphasis on sexual partners, but also on the use of the self-test tool (Oraquick) by community relays.
Community Relays play an important role in eliminating HIV through indexed screening. For example, MUTUMBA community relays that had received 4 self-test kits used them and 3 were reactive (positive).
Note that we often use the self-test on sexual partners who refuse to go to the Health facilities for voluntary testing cause of fear of discrimination.
