On Tuesday 05 April 2022, Burundi First Lady and President of the Fondation Bonne Action - UMUGIRANEZA, Her Excellency Angeline Ndayishimiye, visited Service Yezu Mwiza.
In his welcoming speech, the Executive Director of Service Yezu Mwiza, Father Védaste Nkeshimana, sj, after thanking the First Lady for this visit, gave a brief overview of the results already achieved in HIV management. “During the year 2021, out of an active file of 1058 PLHIV, 1037 had their viral load tested and 1019 of them, had an undetectable viral load, a rate of 98%. This result is more satisfying and gives us more hope that the World Health Organization's goal of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination, zero AIDS-related deaths by 2030 will be achieved."

He also indicated that giving ARV treatment to PLHIV is not enough, Service Yezu Mwiza has also initiated its beneficiaries in income-generating activities (IGA), so that they do not always reach out their hands, but on the contrary, can have of themselves, enough to meet their needs.

In her speech, Her Excellency the First Lady Angeline Ndayishimiye, indicated that she came within the framework of the Bonne Action-UMUGIRANEZA Foundation, in order to support the good works of Service Yezu Mwiza in favor of vulnerable PLHIV and especially in her contribution to support the Burundian government in the eradication of HIV.
"If there are different diseases, the development of our country that we aspire to cannot be achieved. Service Yezu Mwiza supports development activities, development based on good health. I therefore encourage you to follow the advice of the doctors by taking the medicines correctly. Be our ambassadors in your community, sensitize others to get tested so that everyone can know their HIV status. Together let us unite for the development of our country," the First Lady concluded.

It should be noted that during this visit, the First Lady provided food and non-food aid for more than 400 vulnerable people living with HIV cared for at Service Yezu Mwiza, with the aim of enabling them to better celebrate the Easter feast which fast approaching.
