SYM: Distribution of school kits to orphans and other vulnerable children

Posted on 04/05/2021 - Category: Actualité du SYM ...

Service Yezu Mwiza with the funding of MAGIS foundation (movement and action of Italian Jesuits for development) distributed school kits to 125 Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVCs). These school kits consisted of uniforms for primary and secondary school students, satchels and pens.

MAGIS Foundation intends to promote in the world the mission of God’s reconciliation with creation and humanity, according to the Gospel spirit and the Ignatian style, supporting local communities to become protagonists of social change for an integral and sustainable development.

By distributing these school kits to OVCs, Service Yezu Mwiza allows vulnerable parents, foster families or tutors of these children to catch their breath but above all to show these children that they are not alone.

In his speech, Father Védaste NKESHIMANA, SJ first thanked MAGIS foundation for having responded to his appeal, by helping the OVC of SYM to continue their studies and thus prepare their future.
He then encouraged these children to continue their studies because, despite their vulnerability, with more determination and perseverance, they will be the leaders of tomorrow.

Father Védaste NKESHIMANA, SJ Executive Director of Service Yezu Mwiza distributing School Kits to OVCs. “We thank you for this school kit because there were among us who had only one outfit, or who went to school with notebooks in their hands, without a school bag. When the rain falls, it damages these notebooks and the parents pay the price. Showing up with new uniforms, for the next school year, makes us forget that we have lost our biological parents, because we have another parent (Service Yezu Mwiza) who watches over us and cares about our development.”, says one of the OEVS.

Vulnerable parents, beneficiaries of SYM were also invited, and did not fail to express their satisfaction:
“Service Yezu Mwiza has come into our lives as a salvation, it has given us the courage to face our vulnerability, always standing by us. We would like to thank you wholeheartedly for your support, we can never thank you enough, because what you are doing is a commendable act. By giving school kits to our children, you are saving us the expenses of the new school year. It is also a source of pride for us to see our children come to school well dressed.”
