While Burundi has just recorded the first two cases of covid-19 infections, Service Yezu Mwiza has already implemented the recommendations of the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, on health and social protection practices for its beneficiaries, but also for its staff in order to protect themselves against the coronavirus and prevent its contagion.
COVID-19 has the symptoms of an acute respiratory infection (tiredness, fever, muscle pain, cough, difficulty breathing). Patients with some pre-existing chronic diseases as well as the elderly are more likely to develop severe forms.
The virus identified in January 2020 in China in the city of Wuhan, was named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and, was then qualified as a pandemic (global epidemic) by the same organization since March 11, 2020.
That disease is spread between individuals by the projection of contaminated droplets in the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes within 1 meter, but also the contact of contaminated hands with the face.
To deal with the coronavirus, Service Yezu Mwiza has already implemented simple actions that can help its staff to preserve their health and that of those around them:
