Burundi joined the world on Friday, December 06, 2019, at Ingoma stadium in Gitega in the celebration of World AIDS Day 2019 Edition, under the theme "Communities make the difference". These ceremonies were enhanced by the presence of First Lady Denise NKURUNZIZA.
Each World AIDS Day is dedicated to a particular theme. For this 2019 edition, the world has recognized the significant involvement of communities that are making a difference in the fight against HIV.
First Lady Denise NKURUNZIZA in her speech saluted the work done by networks, individuals and associations involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Burundi and awarded them certificates of merit, as a mark of appreciation for their contribution. Service Yezu Mwiza was among the associations that received these certificates.
