As part of the celebration of World AIDS Day, the Yezu Mwiza Service, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Solidarity and Human Rights, distributed 272 kilograms of rice to vulnerable beneficiaries who are cared for by this organization on 02 December 2019.

World AIDS Day is celebrated on the first day of December. This year, it is dedicated to the role of communities in ending HIV. On the occasion of this day, Service Yezu Mwiza provided nutritional support to vulnerable beneficiaries:

The Executive Director of Service Yezu Mwiza explained in his statement that this Jesuit organization works for the actions of love by caring for the beneficiaries, trying to improve their living conditions and thus contributes significantly in the fight against HIV. In his speech, he also encouraged the beneficiaries to continue to follow the treatment so that their viral loads remain undetectable and promised that SYM will use all the means at its disposal to continue to support them.
To conclude, he reported that he had heard that some beneficiaries are unobservant because they are afraid to take ARV drugs in an empty stomach. For this reason, on this World AIDS Day, SYM wanted to share with vulnerable beneficiaries the little food available to them so that they too, can join the others.

After receiving each, 8 kilos of rice, beneficiaries warmly thanked SYM for thinking of them for this day, especially as they are still in need and asked that they continue to be assisted as much as possible because they live in extreme poverty. They also expressed their feelings of gratitude for the various services offered by SYM to its beneficiaries in the care of global health.

It should be noted that on this World AIDS Day, WHO focused on the role of communities in ending HIV, while drawing attention to the need for greater support for communities to improve services to beneficiaries.
