Service Yezu Mwiza with technical and financial support of GIZ / Health and in collaboration with Muramvya and Kiganda health districts support the initiative of the Ministry of Public Health and the fight against AIDS through the National Health Program of Reproduction in promoting the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and young people.
The study conducted in 2014 by UNIPROBA (Unite for the Promotion of the Batwa) has shown that the Batwa begin to procreate at the age of 12, which leads them to give birth to many children from whom they can no longer care. It is within this framework that SYM organized from 24 to 27 September 2019, a sensitization on family planning among the populations of Batwa communities of Muramvya province around (Muramvya, Rweza, Bugarama, Giko and Teza) CDSs in MURAMVYA health district as well as (Kaniga, Munyinya, Marumane, Rugari and Kivoga) CDSs in KIGANDA health district. awareness sessions in the Batwa communities of Muramvya province That activity took place alternately in the Batwa communities of the 10 CDSs in presence of a hillside administrative officer, a CDS health worker covering the locality, peer educators, a mentor from SYM and the local consultant in Muramvya. Through question and answer games, Batwa communities had the opportunity to express their knowledge in family planning and the winners received prizes like soap and cans. Dance of joy of the Batwa community after sensitization The beneficiaries did not fail to express their joy while thanking Service Yezu Mwiza for thinking about the Batwa community by involving it in changing behaviour through family planning and having respect for them since these communities live in discrimination and isolation.SYM: Distribution of school kits to members of associations of people affected by leprosy
