On September 18, 2019, Service Yezu Mwiza (SYM) was visited by a delegation of 5 members of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, led by Quentin DE HEMPTINNE, Senior Project Lead Grant Management Division.

Welcomed by Father Védaste NKESHIMANA SJ, Executive Director of SYM, who gave them a brief overview of SYM's activities and areas of intervention, the delegation greatly appreciated the actions of that Jesuit centre which works in favour of vulnerable and more deprived populations.
The head of this delegation, Mr Quentin DE HEMPTINNE, described the objective of their visit:
"We are on a project monitoring visit, today we are visiting Service Yezu Mwiza, a tuberculosis care centre, and the Global Fund is financing the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. For us it is really important to see the commitment of civil society in achieving this objective of fighting these diseases." Visit of the Global Fund delegation to various services of Service Yezu Mwiza The delegation then toured the Martin Royackers Clinic of Service Yezu Mwiza, starting with its reception service and then anti-tuberculosis service where members of the delegation were able to understand how the SYM contributes to the fight against tuberculosis through Genexpert machine available at SYM, able to detect cases of susceptible or resistant to rifampicin tuberculosis, which incidentally was the subject of their visit to the laboratory to see the status of this machine.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is a non-profit foundation to attract, mobilize and invest additional resources to end the epidemics of HIV, tuberculosis and malaria. He is also involved in local and solidarity actions to get closer to the real needs, with a special partnership with associations dealing with "people living with HIV / AIDS", supporting the sick and orphans, fighting against stigma and developing information and prevention.

"SYM is a reference center and also of excellence, i have the impression that the health staff is extremely committed and does not lose sight of their primary objective which is to bring comfort and also the optimal service for the healing of patient. With the funds of edge, SYM works in the localities around Bujumbura in contact with the most vulnerable; and these populations are extremely important because they are populations that already suffer economically, but in addition have a double pain with the disease.
