While I am not, at first glance, an affiliate of a health field, by asking to work as a volunteer at SYM, I wanted to contribute to this edifice of helping the sick. Having worked for a long time in the field of communication and community development, I have mainly learned that it is first of all thanks to our personal talents that we can better help each other. Already, with two weeks at SYM, I have been marked by the serenity of those who visit our offices; the multiple services make that patients do not wait long without being greeted by this or that service. Another aspect that impressed me is that the location of SYM is favorable to the reception of patients, a little in discretion; also, the environment is calm, which makes for a good setting for serious work. Finally, SYM is colored by a culture of prayer: not only does a working day begin with a prayer facilitated in turn by a member of the staff; but also, each member of the staff is invited to carry in his daily prayers the beneficiaries who take turns in different aspects of care.
