I have been working at Service Yezu Mwiza since it was founded in 2008. My impression is that Service Yezu Mwiza, has a largely positive impact on the beneficiaries, in the global management of HIV and other chronic diseases, especially in the fact that Bringing its care services closer to vulnerable people who live far from SYM, to relieve them of the burden of travel costs through its mobile clinic strategy. SYM doesn’t help only in the Clinical services, it also supports its beneficiaries in income-generating activities, and that completely changed the situation, the beneficiaries who, before, were only asking for help to any passerby, manage not only to take care of themselves but also to take care of theirs. This is the case of beneficiaries who today are able to educate their children, pay their rent but also to buy drugs that are not supported by SYM. Community, which used to be discriminated and stigmatized people with HIV rather joined groups of community and religious leaders whose main role is to mobilize the population for sexual and reproductive health. Now, community health workers, community relays, youth leaders and community leaders are chosen from the community.
