Egide, JP Project leader at SYM

Publié le 29/07/2019 ...
The Joint Program (JP) is a CARE International funded project working to promote sexual and reproductive health among youth and teenagers aged 10 to 24 years old. The JP Project within Service Yezu Mwiza collaborate with parents, religious and administrative leaders, on community aspect. Since 2016, our interventions led changes of mentality in parent-child communication around youth sexual and reproductive health needs and related issues, a topic that was long considered as a taboo within the Burundian culture. My pride is to see that today, religious leaders have become aware of the challenges faced by young people and adolescents and promote access to information and services of the Sexual Reproductive Health of Adolescents and Youth in their preaching and mentoring of young people. In several churches, religious leaders are no longer reluctant, they integrate the theme Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) in their pastoral programming, especially in the teachings for young couples who are preparing for marriage with the aim of building happy homes.
